Venue Hire
The Venue for Community Events and Activities in Kendal
At The Eddington, we pride ourselves on collaborating with the community to bring events and activities to Kendal that have wellbeing and sustainability at their heart.
All income from hiring the church at the Eddington will help us towards our mission of supporting the community to thrive!
Currently there are two spaces for hire – the church (the former United Reformed Church) and the community hall. Bookings for the community hall should be directed to Waste into Wellbeing (our anchor tenant) by email: wiwbookings@slacc.org.uk, or read on for enquiries about the church space.

Coming soon – Cyclery124 on Stricklandgate and opportunities to hire the cafe/workshop space, or small first floor room for meetings or small group activities. Watch this space!
In Victorian times, the church accommodated up to 600 people, but we suggest a comfortable maximum of 250, with a maximum of 10 people in the balcony.
The space is in development and although a beautiful and welcoming venue, there is much work to do to upgrade the facilities.
The toilet facilities are shared with the hall although we may be able to open access to a third toilet located in the south-side vestry which is normally a volunteer-only space. Currently a volunteer or contractor is needed to support events happening in this space.
The church is unheated and so best suited for hire from April – September. The original wooden benches provide the seating arrangements and you can now enjoy sitting on a beautifully-crafted ragrug pew mat made by our community of pew mat makers. We will therefore discuss your needs directly with you. Otherwise, all the terms and conditions of booking apply.
